Bridge construction over Wewantic River in Marion will soon begin

MARION — The Town of Marion in participation with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation estimates that bridge construction over the Weweantic River will begin on February 23, 2026.

Construction will last from Feb. 23 to Dec. 31, 2026 during the hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. 

Work will start with tree clearing and erosion control in February, followed by bridge demolition and replacement through the remainder of the year.

Drivers should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution. All work is weather-dependent and may be impacted by emergency situations.
