Buzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for donations of metal wheelchair ramps for its Ramp Donation Program.
The program began in 2024 to give low-income homeowners wheelchair access to their living spaces. Since then, the group has installed 50 ramps for area families.
After heavy snows halted ramp installations this winter, Habitat for Humanity has begun installations again
Ramps are expensive, and often needed on short notice and only temporarily. When the ramp is no longer needed, volunteers remove it and prepare it for another installation when needed.
Donations to the program are tax deductible, and donors also benefit from the free removal of the unwanted ramp. The program serves people throughout the South Coast region, including Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester.
