Cervelli’s Farm Stand has served the town for approximately 20 years — supplying donuts, pies, pumpkins and even Christmas trees in the winter to guests.
Recently, the apple cider and pumpkin donuts have drawn massive crowds to the farm stand, attracting hundreds of visitors.
“Sales vary anywhere from 100 to 500 [a day] and it varies greatly depending on the day,” said Scott Makowski of Rochester, owner of the stand.
Sarah Reusch of Rochester and manager of the stand, said “we started making donuts seven years ago and every year they just start taking off.”
“We make them fresh every day so I think that is a huge effect on the donuts. Every day you're basically getting a day of donut,” she explained.
The donuts tend to sell out, but Reusch manages to make enough daily.
“I try very hard to not sell out because we will have disappointed customers that come in later in the day. But we'll sell out most days if not we only have a couple left over,” she stated.
Kaitlin Peck of Rochester has worked at the stand for four years and loves the weekends.
“I feel like the weekends are the most fun when everybody's here together. I kind of feel like we're not working,” she said.
Makowski said, “I think I have a great team. I think if anybody asked a customer, they would say that they're probably the friendliest, nicest group of people, which I appreciate.”
Samantha Salois and Christine Carr from Mattapoisett have been regular guests at the stand throughout the year, since Cervelli’s is open from April to December.
“It’s a great little place. In the summer, they have great vegetables and you can pick flowers.” She continued. “It's great for little children because it's a small enough place where they're not overwhelmed and they can wander around, especially right now picking pumpkins.”
On the weekends, Cerveilli’s hosts barrel train rides for kids from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well.
“They set it up so nicely and it's decorated so nicely and it's a fun time,” said Carr.
Makowski's family has owned the farm stand for over 50 years and it has grown over the years. He now plans to keep expanding.
He likes the creative side of running the stand, with decorating and making sure operations are smooth.
“My favorite part is probably trying to have my own little creative space to do what I want and kind of incorporate it into my business,” Makowski said.
The stand is located at 247 Roundsville Road in Rochester and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
