Cyclists hit the ‘rocky’ road for annual Tour de Creme this weekend

MATTAPOISETT — Cyclists will take to the road this weekend, riding bikes and eating sweet treats on Sunday, May 31 for the annual Tour de Crème bike trip around south coast Massachusetts.
According to organizers, the tour is not just a bike ride. Participants try ice cream from creameries across the south coast and enjoy a seaside party by the Mattapoisett Land
Trust and the Friends of the Mattapoisett Rail Trail.
There are three tours launching from and finishing in Mattapoisett on Sunday.
A 9-mile tour leaves at 12 p.m. and will ride to Little Bay Road, stopping at a mobile ice cream cart from Dorothy Cox Candies and riding back to the Munro Preserve in Mattapoisett for ice cream from McGraw’s Back Porch Ice Cream.
A 25-mile tour will leave at 11 a.m. from the Town Beach and, like the first tour, will ride to Little Bay Road and stop at the Dorothy Cox Candies ice cream cart, then continue to West Island Creamery in Fairhaven and lastly, stopping on Old Slough Road in Mattapoisett for a Fieldstone Market Ice Cream Stand set before going to the finish line.
A 47-mile tour will leave at 10 a.m. and ride to Country Whip in Acushnet, then to the Robins Nest in Rochester, then Captain Bonney’s Ice Cream in Rochester and a pop-up creamery at Nasketucket Bay vineyard in Fairhaven.
