The Sippican Woman’s Club Holiday House Tour to raise money for scholarships will be help on Dec. 14 amid a number of other holiday events in downtown Marion. 

The tour begins in Handy’s Tavern, 152 Front Street at 10 a.m. Participants should park at the Island Wharf and bandstand lot, not in the Marion General Store lot. Woman’s Club members decorate the tavern in advance, and will be serving wassail. Last-minute participants can purchase tickets at the Tavern for $25. Tourgoers will exchange their tickets for maps, a program and a wristband, which allows admission to the houses. 

To purchase tickets in advance for $20 visit the Marion General Store, Serendipity in Marion, or Isabelle’s at the Ropewalk in Mattapoisett. Tickets may also be bought online, by going to www.sippicanwomansclub.org., selecting Holiday House Tour Tickets, adding the number of tickets you are purchasing and then proceeding to the cart and checkout.  If the card is not in the participant’s name, please provide their name in the “order notes” on the right side of the billing detail page. Keep a receipt for payment verification to pick up the tour program at the Tavern. Interested participants can also mail in a check payable to SWC and sent to SWC–HHT tickets, P.O. Box 121, Marion, MA 02738.

Homes featured on the tour are decorated by professional florists and homeowners. At 2 p.m. the traditional Holiday Tea will begin at St. Gabriel’s Fellowship Hall on South Street. The tea includes tea, coffee, finger sandwiches and sweets and lasts until 4 p.m., closing out the tour.

This year, the Beverly Yacht Club will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by to view the scenic waterfront, the decorations at the sailing club, or to enjoy a beverage from the cash bar or a complimentary cup of tea or coffee. Yacht Club members will share info about the 1806 clubhouse and its programs.

Also in town that day The Marion Garden Group will have their Holiday Boutique at the Marion Music Hall on Front Street from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Arrive early as it sells out quickly. The Marion Art Center will be decorated for holidays and featuring “Small Works on the Wall”, originals by 20 artists for immediate purchase.  Their holiday shop offers a curated bouti, available to purchase were crafted by McDermott Glass Studio.que of beautiful handmade items.The Elizabeth Taber Library will provide a seasonal craft project and sell its 2019 ornaments.

As in many previous years the First Congregational Church will hold a luncheon and cookie walk from 11:30 to 1:00 in the Community Center. The$10 lunch includes  hot chicken salad, cranberry compote and more.  Visitors can also pick up homemade cookies for $10 a dozen.
