Drought reminder for Marion residents
MARION — The state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has declared a Level 2 drought in southeastern Massachusetts, triggering mandatory water restrictions in town through Sept. 15.
Outdoor watering is prohibited except between 6 and 8 a.m. and 6 and 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday for even-numbered street addresses, and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for odd-numbered addresses. Residents may wash vehicles and water plants using a hand-held hose on Sundays between 6 a.m. and noon.
The restrictions will be enforced under the town's Water Supply Conservation Bylaw. Violators face a $50 fine for a first offense and $100 for subsequent violations.
