Fall Family Fun Fest comes to Shipyard Park

Oct 19, 2019

MATTAPOISETT — Pumpkins, games, costumes, and artwork filled Shipyard Park on Saturday, Oct. 19 for the Mattapoisett Lions Club’s fourth annual Fall Family Fun Fest.

King Lion Mario Conde said the purpose of the free event “is just to give back to the community.”

As Halloween music played from the park’s gazebo, children and their families participated in festive games like “Pumpkin Bowling” and “Pin the nose on the Pumpkin.”

Kids with a love of art could get their faces painted and try their hand at Halloween themed coloring books.

As some people took part in the festival’s many activities, others lined up for their turn at the main attraction, hayrides on a wagon pulled by a bulldozer courtesy of Fisher and Rocha.

Guests took a slow stroll through Mattapoisett with views of Halloween decorations and the ocean in the background.

Lions Club member Sandy Hastings served as one of the “worker bees” in running this year’s event. She said that the Fall Family Fun Fest is a good opportunity to do something for the community and also to potentially gain new members for the club.

The Lions Club is a non-political  organization with an emphasis on community and humanitarian service.

Apple cider and hot chocolate were served at the festival courtesy of the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club.
