Here’s who’s running for election in the Tri-Town

Town Elections are on May 14, 18 and 26 in Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, respectively.

Town elections are coming up in May for Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, and candidates are starting to submit their intent.
Town Election in Marion is on May 14, and seats are availabe on the Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Marion Open Space Acquisition Commission, and the Marion School Committee.
Two spots each are up for election on the Marion School Committee and Planning Board. Board Vice Chair Andrew Davis and Kristen St. Don Campbell — who resigned — are up on the Planning Board. Michelle Ouellette Smith and April Rios are up on the School Committee.
One Seat is up for election on the Board of Selectmen, Board of Assessors, Board of Health, and MOSAC.
Select Board Chair Randy Parker’s seat is up for reelection, John B. Howard’s chair is up on the Board of Health, George TJ Walker’s seat is up on the Board of Assessors, and Alan P. Harris’ seat is up on the MOSAC.
The last day to submit papers for Town Election in Marion is March 22.
In Mattapoisett, Town Election is on May 18, and 15 seats are up for election between the Board of Selectmen, Board of Health, Planning Board, Community Preservation Committee, Mattapoisett Housing Authority, Mattapoisett School Committee, and the positions of Assessor, Library Trustee, Highway Surveyor, Moderator and Water/Sewer Commissioner.
Select Board Chair Paul Silva’s seat is up for election, and he is not running for reelection. So far, Jodi Lynn Bauer, R. Tyler Macallaster, and Nicole Demakis have all taken out nomination papers for the position.
Currently uncontested races run by incumbents include Leonard C. Coppola for reelection as Assessor, Leda Kim on the Housing Authority, Elizabeth Sylvia and William Osier for Library Trustee positions, John A. Elkund for Moderator, Russell Bailey for Board of Health, Karen Field for Planning Board and Charles Mccollough for Community Preservation Committee.
Albert Mennino, incumbent Water/Sewer Commissioner, and Michelle Hughes, Community Preservation Committee member, have not yet indicated whether they will run for reelection.
The only contested race other than Silva’s Selectmen seat is on the School Committee.
Eric Beauregard pulled papers for the two open seats on the committee, but incumbent Chair Jim Muse and incumbent member Carole Clifford have not yet indicated whether they will run.
The last day to submit nomination papers in Mattapoisett is March 30.
For Rochester’s May 26 election, seats are open for the offices of Moderator and Tree Warden, with positions up on the Board of Selectmen, Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Planning Board, Park Commission, Water Commission, Rochester School Committee, ORR School Committee, and Board of Library Trustees.
So far, Incumbent Chair Paul Ciaburri has pulled papers for reelection to the Board of Selectmen, incumbent Jeffrey Eldridge has pulled papers for Tree Warden, incumbent Jana Cavanaugh has pulled papers for the Board of Assessors, and Richard Munroe and Shauna A. Makuch have pulled papers for Water Commissioner and Library Trustee, respectively.
Incumbents on the Planning Board, Park Commission, Rochester and ORR School Committees, Board of Library Trustees, and for the office of Moderator have not yet indicated whether they will run.
The last day to request submit papers in Rochester is March 31.
