Learn about birds with Sippican Woman’s Club

Mar 7, 2023

MARION — The South Coast offers natural habitats for finding birds all year long — not just in the spring and fall when many birds are seen migrating. Guests are welcome to join members of the Sippican Woman’s Club at its meeting on Friday, March 10 at 12:30 p.m. at “Handy’s Tavern”, 152 Front Street, Marion.

A lite lunch is offered followed by a short business meeting at 1 p.m. Justin Barrett is a knowledgeable birder and is the day’s speaker. Barrett serves as President of the Nasketucket Bird Club located in Mattapoisett. During the day, Barrett handles the day-to-day operations in development at Manomet in Plymouth whose mission is to make a better world for birds.

The day after the Sippican Woman’s Club meeting, the Nasketucket Bird Club is scheduled to hold a bird walk on Saturday, March 11 at 8 a.m. at Silver Shell Beach and Grassi Bog. The walk will be led by Priscilla Bradley and is open to the public.

The Sippican Woman’s Club is open to any woman whose interest is in Marion.  Meetings are normally held on the second Friday of the month September through March followed by an annual meeting held on the last Friday in April.

Parking during meetings is available at the lot opposite the Music Hall off Island Wharf Road by the bandstand. Visit the Sippican Woman’s Club’s updated website at https://www.sippicanwomansclub.org
