Learn the Marion Golf Club’s history

Apr 20, 2021

MARION — Join Jeremiah Daly and the Sippican Historical Society on April 29 at 7 p.m. for a history presentation on the Marion Golf Club.

The presentation will illustrate the history and biography of George C. Thomas, Jr. who designed the club.

The Marion Golf Club was Thomas’ first design in a career that included the designs of some of the most prominent golf courses in America, including the Los Angeles Country Club, Riviera Country Club, Bel-Air Country Club and Stanford University Golf Course.

Daly will also touch on the work he’s done since taking over Marion Golf Club in the spring of 2020, and his vision for the future, including restoring the original design of the golf course and the club’s role in the community.

Daly grew up in Marion and now resides in Boston and Marion with his wife Elizabeth, three daughters and their dog Lucy. He is the co-founder and partner of Elephant, a global venture capital firm with $1.5 billion in assets under management. Jeremiah is co-chair of Marion Golf Club and on the Philanthropic Board of Advisors at Boston Children's Hospital. He graduated from Dartmouth College with an AB in Government and was the captain of the golf team.
