Letter to the editor: Thank you for the support of Old Colony
To the Residents and Members of the Old Colony School Community,
On behalf of the Old Colony District School Committee, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the recent vote regarding our school building project.
As you know, the proposal did not pass. While this outcome is not what we had hoped for, we recognize the importance of continuing to work collaboratively as we determine our next steps.
Over the coming months, the Old Colony School Committee, along with the school administration, will be seeking input from town officials to develop a path forward. Although the election outcome presents challenges, it also provides an opportunity for deeper dialogue.
We will prioritize areas needing immediate attention while most importantly continuing to provide a quality academic and vocational education for our students. Maintaining a building that is a safe learning environment for our students, teachers, and staff will be at the forefront of our decision-making process.
We understand this will be a difficult task, but we will remain steadfast. The school district and school administration remain committed to transparency in its fiscal planning and will not deviate from that philosophy.
We will keep families, staff, and community members informed of our progress. The Old Colony school community is strong, resilient, and dedicated.
We remain optimistic in what we can achieve together, even in these difficult moments. Thank you for your ongoing support, your engagement, and your commitment to our students and your children.
Sincerely,
Nancy A. Souza
Chair, Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical School District Committee
