Marion native to perform with Airmen of Note

NEW BEDFORD — Marion native and professional saxophonist Master Sergeant Kristian Baarsvik will perform with the reputable U.S. Military band Airmen of Note on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m at New Bedford High School.
Sergeant Baarsvik grew up in Marion, attending Sippican School, Falmouth Academy and Tabor Academy. He currently plays lead alto saxophone with the Airmen of Note, The United States Air Force Band stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. — in addition to holding a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.
Formed in 1950, the Airmen of Note continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Forces dance band. The ensemble is “the premiere jazz ensemble of the U.S. Air Force” and is composed of 17 active-duty musicians and one vocalist.
