Marion Natural History to host childrens' programs

MARION — The Marion Natural History Museum will host two programs in August for children and families.

Birds of the World. Bethany Boucher of Amazing Animal Ambassadors will present a live animal program featuring birds from around the world Monday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 3 p.m. 

The program will include a variety of species, among them a macaw, cockatoo, kookaburra, green aracari, great horned owl, red-tailed hawk and raven. 

The program is funded in part by the Marion Cultural Council. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged at marionmuseum.org.

Coastal Explorations. The Marion Natural History Museum will offer a week-long Coastal Explorations program Aug. 3 to Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, for children entering grades second through sixth grade. 

Participants will explore Marion's rocky intertidal shorelines, salt marshes, estuaries, freshwater riverbanks, forests, swamps, ponds and bogs. 

Daily activities will include hands-on exploration, experiments, crafts and nature journaling. Space is limited to 15 participants per session.
