ORR students awarded in essay contest

MATTAPOISETT — Four Old Rochester Regional High School students won awards for their essays about democracy.
The essay competition was designed by the Marion Democratic Town Committee to promote interest in civic engagement and help students define democracy.
The four students, all juniors, received their awards Tuesday, May 26. The first place winner was Isabelle Ortega, second place was Catherine Sylvia-Everett, third place was Emma Costa and fourth place was Luke Pierre
The committee plans to offer a similar challenge, open to juniors and seniors, next school year.
