Read between the lines of new Mattapoisett-themed coloring book
MATTAPOISETT — A colorful collaboration between the Mattapoisett Museum and area high schoolers brought about a new publication.
The museum is launching “Mattapoisett Then and Now: A Coloring Book” during a Thursday, May 14 celebration at 5 Church St.
The students who created the book will be celebrated during a live art exhibit during the event, and copies will be available for $10. It will also be available during the museum’s open hours on Fridays and Saturdays from May 29-September 26 and at select local retailers in Mattapoisett.
Funds from the sale of the book will go towards developing and delivering educational programming at the Mattapoisett Museum.
This school year the museum engaged Old Rochester students to design the art pages and write about their contents. Students from Old Colony then produced and printed the book.
Students in one art class created drawings of various landmarks across town, while a class of local history students researched the landmarks and wrote summaries about each.
Old Colony students helped design the cover, layout the pages and print the book.
