MARION — On Friday Nov. 8 the Sippican Woman’s Club will travel to West Yarmouth to experience The Whydah Pirate Museum.

The museum features artifacts from the Whydah Gally. The ship sank in a noreaster in 1717, killing all but two of its 146 man crew. It is the worst wreck on the shores of the Cape.

The remains of the shipwreck were not discovered until 1984 by underwater explorer Barry Clifford. The Whydah remains the only authenticated and positively identified pirate ship ever recovered. The contents of this ship represent a unique look into the lives of the pirates, and a cross-cultural sampling of treasures from the world at the time.

The group will leave at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. Lunch at a local restaurant will be included.
