Help Rochester prepare.

A Planning organization is looking for feedback from Rochester residents on weather events that may present hazards to the town residents or infrastructure. Attend a half day workshop at the Rochester First Congregational Church Fellowship hall from 9 to 1 to offer your input.

Watch kids and teachers on the court.

Old Hammondtown School will host a student versus staff basketball game at the Old Rochester High School gymnasium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game will start at 6:30 p.m. For admission families must provide a canned good or a cash donation for the Mattapoisett Parent Teacher association.

ORR Junior high stages a Disney movie.

The Old Rochester Regional Junior High School wants to show theatergoers a whole new world with its production of “The Magical Lamp of Aladin.” Opening night will be at 7 p.m. at the Junior High School auditorium, with an additional performance on Saturday March 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door.

Walk slowly and mindfully.

Jessica Webb, owner of Anchor Yoga, and the Buzzards Bay Coalition will host a mindfulness walk at the White Eagle parcel on Parlowtown Road in Marion. The free 11 a.m. walk will apply mindfulness techniques in the woods. Walkers should wear appropriate footwear for wet conditions. Enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day meal.

The Knights of Columbus will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early with a corned beef and cabbage supper. Doors will open at the Knights of Columbus at 5 p.m., and the dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m.The cost for children 7 to 12 years old is $10, and the cost for teens and adults is $15.

Watch alumni and students on the court.

The Old Rochester Regional Athletic Hall of Fame will host two alumni v.s. current student basketball games at the Old Rochester Regional High School Gym. The girls team game against the alumni will begin at 6:30 p.m, and the boys team will play at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $3 for students and free for children 5 and under.

Enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day walk.

Dress in green for the Sippican Lands Trust leads a St. Patrick’s Day Walk at its Peirson Woods property at 1 p.m. A prize will be awarded to the most festive green outfit. Parking is very limited, and participants should park carefully along Point Road. If the free walk is canceled for weather, information will be posted to Sippican Lands Trust’s website and Facebook page.

Sing at the library.

The Joseph H. Plumb Library will host a sing along of folk songs from the 1930s at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library from 2 to 3 p.m. Lyric sheets will be provided and light refreshments will be served.This program is part of the "One Book, Tri-Town" series. 

Monday, March 18

Watch LGBTQ stories.

The Mattapoisett Congregational Church will show an award-winning documentary, which follows families as children discover their homosexuality and explores how the Bible has been used and misused in national and religious LGBTQ discussions. The event will be held in the church’s basement media room at 6:30 p.m. Park in the church’s Barstow Street lot, and enter through the Barstow St. door.

Discuss a book.

The Elizabeth Taber Book group will discuss “Devil in the White City” at 11 a.m. at the Elizabeth Taber Library.
