Game 20 Preview: Lunn on the hill as Gatemen face Braves

Jul 2, 2018

WAREHAM - The Wareham Gatemen (12-7) look to get back in the win column as they take on the Bourne Braves (9-8-1) tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Spillane Field.

Wareham is coming off a tough 6-5 loss last night to the YD Red Sox. With Wareham ahead 4-2 in the fifth, Tyler Ahearn entered the game for the Gatemen and gave up three runs and allowed the first five hitters he faced to reach base.

The Gatemen defense did not do their pitching staff any favors as they made a season-high four errors last night in the loss.

As for Bourne, the Braves enter the game today having lost their last game 7-6 to Orleans. Bourne starter Harrison Rutkowski pitched six strong innings allowing two runs while striking out five. In the bottom of the seventh, the day for Rutkowski was done and Orleans scored five runs off the bullpen and pulled out a 7-5 win.

Today’s matchup will be the second of the season between Bourne and Wareham. The first time out, Bourne defeated Wareham 4-3. Will Proctor took the loss in that game allowing the winning run to score in the eighth.

The Gatemen will play the Braves next on Thursday in Bourne for the third of their six regular season matchups this season.

RHP Connor Lunn gets the start today for Wareham. In his last outing, Lunn came out of the bullpen and was anything less than stellar. Lunn allowed three runs over an 1.2 innings in a 9-1 loss to Hyannis. On the season, Lunn has a 3.37 ERA to go along with a 2-0 record.
