ORR Boys Soccer Defeats Dighton Rehoboth 3-1 Under the Lights

Oct 17, 2013

Old Rochester boys soccer team, coming of a 2-1 loss to Pope John Paul II high school regained their form with a convincing 3-1 win vs. Dighton Rehoboth Wednesday night under the lights.

The Bulldogs answered back from their first loss in 10 games by controlling play and winning balls all over the field in Wednesday night's game. Coach Mike Devoll drilled intensity and hard work into the Bulldog's practices all week long. The tough practices clearly paid off as Old Rochester was the first to every ball.

From the beginning of the game the Bulldogs looked like they were on a mission creating great scoring opportunities. Mid way through the first half senior stopper Michael Pruchnik sent in a long throw in that reached the DR penalty box, senior midfielder Robby Magee met it with his head and flicked it towards goal. Senior forward Alden Truesdale redirected Magee's header right over the goalie to give the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead. Only minutes later sophomore midfielder Evan Santos flicked a ball towards the DR goal. After the DR defender was unable to clear the ball Robby Magee volleyed the bouncing ball perfectly into the top corner to give the Bulldogs the 2-0 lead going into halftime.

The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas in the second half and got another goal off a breakaway. Senior Alden Truesdale slotted the ball into the bottom corner making the score 3-0. DR got one back late in the second half but never threatened ORR's lead. The Bulldogs hope to keep this good form in their last two games before the state playoffs.

Old Rochester senior midfielder Robby Magee and freshman midfielder Mason DaSilva had one of their best games yet. The Bulldogs also got good contributions from goalie Melvin Vincent, defenseman Mike Pellegrino, and forward Alden Truesdale.
