The Friends of the Wareham Free Library announce the creation of the Richard Wheeler Memorial Fund to benefit the Spinney Memorial Branch of the Wareham Free Library. Dick was a lifelong member of the Friends and an ardent supporter of the library. He often referred to our library as “Wareham’s Shining Light.” According to Priscilla Porter, the president of the Friends, “We wanted to do something special to show our deep appreciation for all Dick has done for our library and its branch, so at our last meeting, the membership decided to create this Memorial Fund.”

The Friends, in collaboration with Sandra Wheeler and the Library Director, will also purchase for both the Main and Branch libraries, a variety of books on environmental issues that Dick supported throughout his life.

Anyone wishing to contribute may send a check directly to the Friends of the Wareham Free Library (with Wheeler Memorial in the memo line), P.O. Box 735, Wareham, MA 02571, or you may drop off the donation at the Main or Spinney Branch Libraries.
