Sharing the Harvest’s Farm to Table Dinner set for July 20

Jul 8, 2019

Summer is here, and with it an abundance of farmer’s markets are popping up across the Southcoast, selling delicious locally grown fruits and vegetables. But for some, access to nutritious food is a challenge. In fact, one in ten families in the Southcoast struggle with issues of food security. It was for that reason that Sharing the Harvest Community Farm was founded at the Dartmouth YMCA in 2006; to provide healthy, farm-fresh food to those in need.

Today, Sharing the Harvest boasts five acres of productive growing fields and a flock of 200 egg producing chickens. Last year the farm provided over 60,000 pounds of produce to food pantries, shelters, senior centers, and veteran’s homes throughout the south coast region. On July 20, Sharing the Harvest will host a Farm to Table Dinner at the Dartmouth YMCA to celebrate the farm’s successes, and to raise money for another successful year of growing.

The Farm to Table Dinner will feature fresh food, locally sourced drinks, live music, and a silent auction, all overlooking Sharing the Harvest’s fields at the Dartmouth YMCA. Tickets to this event are $125 and can be purchased online or in person at the Dartmouth YMCA.
