Join the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries on Thursday, August 7, at 6:30 p.m. to hear local author Julie Hatch discuss her new book, The Very Best of Care, a medical thriller drawn from her experiences working in pediatric and neonatal intensive care. When a young mother delivers her baby three and a half months early, she stumbles on a disturbing secret: the health system is so broken that the lives of newborns and the unborn are no longer safe. She gets caught up in a labyrinth of hospital secrecy, corruption and cover-up that puts her son’s life at risk. The presentation will be held at Southworth Library.
Julie Hatch is a master’s prepared pediatric nurse practitioner with a passion for kids’ health and welfare. She spent over thirty years working in pediatric and neonatal intensive care. Ten years ago, she left Western medicine to earn a master’s degree in traditional Chinese medicine and opened her own acupuncture practice. At the same time, she began writing medical fiction, drawing on her experiences from the front lines of intensive care. Ms. Hatch lives with her husband in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Copies of her book will be available for purchase at the event.
Ms. Hatch’s presentation will be held at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth, MA. For more information, please e-mail fodl.libraries@gmail.com.
