MATTAPOISETT — Jane Healey, author of “The Beantown Girls” will give an author talk and book signing at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library on Sunday Oct. 20 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Healey’s historical novel is based on true stories from the perspective of women who participated in the Red Cross Clubmobile project in World War II. The project used trucks and cars that traveled from place to place to keep morale up though singing, talking and food. The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
