‘I’m like that friend you just come and have coffee with’: Healing Villa moves to Marion

May 25, 2024

MARION — Eydie Matteos said her business “Healing Villa” is made up of three components: Reiki healing, retail and community events. After a year in New Bedford, Healing Villa has found a new home at 163 Front Street in Marion.

Matteos had never heard of Reiki healing, which she described as energy-based, until her father was diagnosed with cancer.

She was interested and started looking into the form of healing before deciding that she would like to enter the spiritual field and start her own business.

Matteos offers one-on-one Reiki healing sessions with customers.

“I’ve created a safe environment where people can come and express how they feel without being judged,” said Matteos.

Matteos said the healing is conversational, and that she evaluates energy radiated by her clients.

“I try to have a really personal relationship with all of my clients,” said Matteos.”I don’t need their full story or anything like that, but I want them to feel comfortable.”

Healing Villa also features a shop where visitors can purchase items such as candles, clothing and bath soaps.

Matteos said she works with local vendors to get handmade items onto the shelves of the shop for purchase.

She said that the clothing and other items available for sale show her personality.

Healing Villa also features furniture that Matteos said is meant to be inviting, to provide a “home-like” feel.

Matteos recommends Reiki healing to “anyone that is going through something, needs to refocus or somewhere they can feel heard, seen and understood.”

Matteos said that hours for one-on-one sessions are “very flexible”.
