‘Rochester 6’s Mrs. B’ has permanent place of honor at Rochester Memorial
ROCHESTER _ Beloved bus driver Jacqueline Beckford, affectionately known as “Rochester 6’s Mrs. B,’’ will always be part of Rochester Memorial School, thanks to construction efforts by students at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School
Five Old Colony juniors constructed a bench in memory of “Mrs. B,’’ who died Feb. 6, 2021.
The bench was delivered Thursday, Jan. 27 to the school.
Beckford drove a school bus for the Old Rochester School District for more than 23 years.
“She would light up when telling bus stories and got the biggest kick out of witnessing her former students put their own children on her bus,’’ according to her obituary.
She began the “Last Day of School Bus Parade & Band” at Rochester Memorial School. This send-off has become a tradition at the school and features a teacher band saluting the students as they move on to the next academic year.
The bench was constructed by Old Colony juniors Josh, Jack, Josh “JT” and Joe.
