5 injured in multi-car crash
A multi-car crash occurred in Mattapoisett on October 17, sending victims from three separate cars to the hospital.
The crash occurred in front of Turk's Restaurant, on Route 6 in Mattapoisett.
Three cars were involved in the crash; one vehicle had rolled over. Two people were trapped in two separate vehicles, according to a Facebook post from Mattapoisett Fire Rescue.
Mattapoisett Fire used the jaws of life to remove and door and the roof of one car and extricate one victim. Firefighters and EMS personnel removed the second trapped person through the windshield of the car that had rolled over.
Route 6 was entirely shut down for about an hour as the rescue operation took place and debris was cleared from the roadway.
All five victims were transported to the hospital. Their current status is unknown.
Marion and Fairhaven's Fire and EMS departments responded to the accident as well.
