Annual Watershed Ride returns Sunday, Oct. 2
The Buzzards Bay Coalition will host its fifth annual Watershed Ride Sunday, Oct. 2 .
The ride is a fully supported, 75-mile cycling fundraising event that showcases the diverse beauty of the Buzzards Bay watershed. Riders can also choose to participate in a 35-mile half ride. Both rides help raise critical funds to support the Bay Coalition’s efforts in protecting and restoring our irreplaceable Bay and its watershed through research, advocacy, conservation, and education.
This ride passes through almost every town in the watershed and includes experienced bikers and recreational cyclists that are motivated by their love for the region. This event is great for photographs and we can help you make a connection with riders from your coverage area.
The route for the 75-miler opens at 9 a.m. and the 35-miler at noon. The route for all rides closes at 5 p.m.
The full ride route begins in Westport and leads cyclists through farmland, coastal villages, New Bedford’s Fort Taber and working waterfront, around cranberry bogs and along the scenic back roads of Cape Cod. The half ride begins in Rochester and covers the second half of the course.
Both Rides culminate at a Finish Line Party on the lawn of the Quissett Harbor House in Woods Hole with live music by the Dancing Dogs.
Over 100 Cyclists of all ages and ability, from all parts of the watershed and beyond, are registered for the Watershed Ride.
