Just the Facts discusses "Silent Spring"
The Just the Facts Nonfiction Book Discussion Group will read "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson in April. A discussion will be held on Thursday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Library officials note: Rarely does a single book alter the course of history, but "Silent Spring" did just that. The outcry that followed its publication in 1962 forced the banning of DDT, one of the first chemicals used in pesticides, and spurred the environmental movement.
Dissecting "Crooked Hearts"
The Café Parlez selection for April is "Crooked Hearts" by Lissa Evans. This comedy is about an unusual alliance between Vera Sedge, a small-time con artist, and Noel Bostock, a young orphan evacuee. Join the discussion on Thursday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. Books are available at the library.
Mad scientists take a STEAM-cation
