Arts in the Park to return July 8
On Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Marion Art Center will host its 11th Annual Arts in the Park, at Bicentennial Park, located at the corner of Main Street and Spring Streets in Marion. Admission to the festival is free and street parking is available.
More than 40 artists will display their works in tents throughout the park. Arts in the Park is a judged art show and also a sale featuring local artists. Among the art on offer will be jewelry, glass, paintings and prints, baskets, ceramics, textiles, collage, photography, turned, and carved and painted wood.
Yesterday’s Country Band will provide live music entertainment, and the New Bedford Museum of Art’s ArtMobile will be on hand to provide art projects for kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This year’s festival will also feature the Oxford Creamery OxCart from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The OxCart will sell various food items, including lobster rolls, hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese, french fries and ice cream.
There will also be an artwork raffle; the raffle items have been donated by the artist exhibitors. Raffle tickets will be for sale and can be purchased throughout the day. The proceeds of the raffle will benefit the operation and maintenance of the Marion Art Center.
Marion Art Center’s galleries will be open throughout the event, and the latest exhibition of paintings by Sarah Brown and Heide Hallemeier will be for available view and sale. Visitors are invited to come inside and see the current exhibition of art in both galleries, as well as many works by Cecil Clark Davis.
