ArtStart to welcome new director
ArtStart, the summer art program for kids 4 ½ to 9 years old, at the Marion Art Center will return for its 29th season with a new director.
Jamie Wiksten will be camp director along with a staff of teachers and counselors. Wiksten has been a piano teacher in the South Coast area since 1999. For the past 16 years, she has taught at The Symphony Music Shop. In 2009, she piloted The Little Mozart’s Preschool Piano Lessons Program at the Marion Art Center. She has also assisted teaching center’s Junior Show Choir, has assisted in the direction of local musicals and currently produces five piano recitals a year for her students ages 3 to 18.
Also on staff this summer is Jillian Zucco who will teach the theater class, Deb Nicolosi who is leading the art class and Melanie Santos in the music class.
Each two-week session concludes with a short production by the campers.
