Author of ‘The Teenage Brain’ to speak at Tabor on Oct. 30
The public is welcome listen to Dr. Frances Jensen, author of “The Teenage Brain”, speak at Tabor Academy later this month. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in Tabor Academy’s Fireman Center for the Performing Arts in Hoyt Hall, located at 235 Front St.
A neurologist, Jensen will speak about her work in exploring adolescent brain functioning and development in the contexts of learning and multitasking, stress and memory, sleep, addiction and decision making.
Jensen’s book sheds new light on the brains – and behaviors – of adolescents and young adults, and analyzes this knowledge to share specific ways in which parents and educators can help them navigate their way into adulthood.
Jensen is professor and chair of the Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. She has researched brain development from the neonatal period through adulthood.
She has lectured widely about the teen brain at universities, colleges, high schools, professional and corporate associations and science museums. Jensen will be available after the lecture to sign copies of the book.
