Barbara Ginn "Biege" Deely, 85, of Marion
Barbara Ginn “Biege” Deely, 85, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She was a resident of Marion for most of her life.
Born in Boston, Nov. 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Cutler) and Edwin Ginn, Jr. She graduated from the Winsor School in Boston, Class of 1944 and was an interior decorator for Francis and Peabody, Newbury St., Boston for 20 years.
She was a member of The Country Club in Brookline, Chilton Club in Boston, Beverly Yacht Club, Sippican Tennis Club and Kittansett Club all in Marion as well as Bath and Tennis Club and The Everglades Club in Palm Beach, FL.
Biege loved life. She loved her family and friends. She loved to entertain at home and was always a gracious and generous hostess. She loved the arts and travel, both home and abroad. These interests carried over into her own painting, her work as an interior decorator, and her personal flair. She loved to play golf, tennis, and bridge and to race her H 12 in Buzzards Bay. She loved to laugh and have fun, but most of all, she loved her family.
Biege is survived by her daughter Margaret H. Bonney (“Leeli”) of Meriden, NH and her husband James K. Bonney. Three grandchildren survive her: Alexandra B. McAuliffe and her husband Tim of New York City and East Hampton NY, Andrew W. Bonney and his wife Christina of Plymouth, and Margaret G. Bonney of Saxton’s River, VT. Five great grandchildren also survive her: Cameron, Margot and E.J. McAuliffe of New York and East Hampton, and Clara and Charles Bonney of Plymouth.
Other survivors include; the daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Alfred H. B. Peabody; the children and grandchildren of John Brooks Reece, and the daughters of James S. Deely.
A memorial service will be held on Mon., Aug. 22, 2011 at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Front St., Marion at 3:30 PM.
