Bees, HQ movies and ride improvements at the Senior Center

Apr 18, 2019

The Senior Center has upgraded  its ride program and Friday movie event, and will offer a trip to learn about beekeeping this month.

Learn how to bee keep at the Douglas Orchard & Farm in Douglas Saturday, April 27. Featuring beekeeper Ken Warhol, the Honey Bee & Recycling Presentation will also give an exclusive walking tour of the farm.

The van will leave the Senior Center at 8 a.m. and will have a lunch stop at Gia’s Restaurant in Uxbridge. The group will come back at 4 p.m. The trip fee is $5. Participants should sign up no later than Wednesday, April 24 to reserve a seat in the van.

New release movies will be featured on a 60 inch plasma screen TV for free on Fridays at 1:30 p.m. Interested cinephiles can find out what movie is being played by Wednesday afternoon.

There are now three lift-equipped handicap-accessible vans available to all Rochester seniors or for any disabled non-seniors for local medical appointments/treatments and rides to and from the Senior Center. The Senior Center can also provide transportation to and from places like the bank, grocery store and pharmacy.

Call 24 hours in advance to schedule a local ride. When cancelling a ride, give the Senior Center a call as soon as possible. The service is free but small donations are appreciated. Rides to medical appointments to Boston and Providence are available for $5 via a grant program by Coastline Services. Call 508-992-5978 at least two weeks in advance for longer rides.
