Berniece Childs, 81
Berniece M. (DeMoranville) Childs, aged 81, of Marion, died on Sunday July 16, 2017, at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. She was the wife of Richard N. Childs. Born in Plymouth, daughter of the late Kenneth and Frances Mary (McGovern) DeMoranville.
She was a graduate of Middleboro High School, class of 1954. She worked at the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds, and later worked at Plymouth Savings Bank, retiring after 21 years of employment. She was a member of the First Congregational Church at the Green, Middleboro; where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a former leader and founder of the East Middleboro 4-H.
She was a past worthy advisor of the Middleboro Rainbow Girls and was a Mariner in the Middleboro Girl Scouts. She was past president of the Marion Mothers Club, and past president and treasurer of the Dexter Beach Association.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; a son, Kent R. Childs of Marion; a brother, Richard F. and his wife Carol DeMoranville of Lakeville; a cousin, Marjorie L. Turini of Plymouth.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 21 from 4-7 p.m. in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro.
Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church, 6 Plympton St. Middleboro, on Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m.
Burial will take place in the Cemetery at the Green, Middleboro. The family would like to invite everyone to the Boston Tavern, Route 28 Middleboro, following the burial.
