Blessing of the animals service to be held May 7

Apr 25, 2016

A blessing of the animals service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Marion Community Center, May 7 at 5 p.m.

Well behaved animals on leashes or in carriers may attend the service, which will be officiated by Rev. Liz Brimm of Mattapoisett. Pet owners may also bring a photo of their animals. Children can bring a stuffed animal.

Difficult financial situations sometimes make it hard to provide for pet’s needs, so the Missions and Outreach Committee is asking those attending the service to bring dog or cat food to be donated to Damien’s Pantry in Wareham.

The May 7 service is part of the church’s weekly Saturday services. The dress is casual. The music is contemporary and song lyrics are projected on a screen.

The Community Center is located at  144 Front St. (rear of parking lot.) In addition, each Sunday at 10 a.m. there is a service in the sanctuary, located at 28 Main St.

Fellowship and refreshments follow each service. At the Blessing of the Animals Service, there will also be dog biscuits and cat treats for pets.
