Boat race ham and bean supper May 23
The Rochester Memorial Day Boat Race ham and bean supper will be held Saturday, May 23 at Rochester Memorial School, 16 Pine St.
The supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the door: $10 for adults, and children under 12 are $5. Beans are baked by the best bean bakers in town and the Culinary Arts Department of Old Colony Regional is preparing the coleslaw and potato salad. There will also be rolls and brown bread. The Artisan Bake Shop will prepare apple crisp.
Proceeds from the supper help offset the expenses of the race. This is the 81st anniversary of the race and it remains one of the few racing events with no entry fees, as it was in 1934 when it was started.
The more the merrier. Park at the rear of the school and enter at the rear door. For additional information, contact Arthur Benner, chair, at 508-763-2024.
