A Boston Pops season finale for the Marion Band

MARION – On Friday, Aug. 26, the Marion Concert Band will close its 2022 season with a concert in the style of the Boston Pops Orchestra. The program, which includes pieces by former Pops arranger Leroy Anderson and former Pops conductor John Williams, is as follows:

- Strike Up the Band - G. Gershwin
- Blue Bells of Scotland - A. Pryor; Tobias F. Monte, euphonium
- Belle of the Ball - L. Anderson
- Flute Cocktail - H. Simeone
- Clarinet Escapade - R. Ward
- John Williams: Evening at Pops - arr. J. Higgins
- The Waltzing Cat - L. Anderson
- Mancini! - H. Mancini
- Young Person’s Guide to John Williams - arr. J. Bocook
- The Stars and Stripes Forever - J. P. Sousa
Tobias F. Monte, euphonium soloist, has performed with the Massachusetts All-State Band, the New Bedford Symphony Youth Orchestra, the UMass Dartmouth Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra, St. Cecilia Philharmonic Band, and the Tri-County Symphonic Band. He has been a member of the Marion Concert Band since 2011.
The concert, under the direction of Tobias S. Monte, will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand, Island Wharf off Front Street in Marion. The concert is free and open to the public. Visit "Marion Town Band" on Facebook for up-to-date announcements and rain cancellation notices.
