British invasion to come to Marion

MARION — The Marion Concert Band will continue its summer concert series on Friday, Aug. 2 with a selection of music from the British Isles.
The program will include classic British brass band pieces as well as rock and pop songs from groups like The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Yardbirds.
Tony Borges will play Concerto for Clarinet by K. Kurpinski. Borges is a retired army musician and music teacher. He reached the rank of Warrant Officer 1 and has played as the principal clarinet for the 18th, 88th, and 215th Army Bands. He is the principal clarinetist with the St. Cecilia Philharmonic Band of Fall River, and the Legion Band of Plymouth. He has been a Marion Concert Band member since. 2015.
The Cape Cod British Car Club may also make an appearance at the concert. The club consists of members who enjoy driving and displaying their British vehicles. The club also participates in events to fundraise for scholarships for students at Upper Cape Regional Technical School, South Plymouth High School, Cape Cod Regional Technical School, and Falmouth High School.
The event is free to the public and will be led by Marion Concert Band Director Tobias Monte.
