There was plenty of shivering and holiday cheer at Helping Hands and Hooves' 12th annual Christmas Day Swim.
Sixty-five people gathered at Mattapoisett Town Beach to support the charity, which provides therapeutic horseback riding lessons for adults with disabilities.
Caroline Foley was one of several teenagers who ran into the water and said she has done the swim for several years. Foley said the charity is the reason she keeps taking the plunge
"And I just think it's fun," she added. "Y.O.L.O.!" (That's teen speak for you only live once.)
Deborah Dyson, an organizer for the event, said the group had a good turnout and there was plenty of wassail for adults (for adults only) and hot chocolate for kids to warm up.
