Bulldogs bow out of state tournaments

MATTAPOISETT — Old Rochester Regional High School sports teams put up a fierce fight in the 2023 Spring MIAA Tournament season but came up short in all competing sports.

The 10th seeded Old Rochester Regional High School boys lacrosse team made their way to the round of 16 in the Division 3 tournament, ultimately losing 14-7 against seventh seeded Falmouth on Thursday, June 8. Before that the team beat 23rd seeded East Longmeadow 12-8 in a game on Tuesday, June 6.

The 12th seeded girls lacrosse team also made it to the round of 16 in their Division 3 tournament before losing 15-9 to fifth seeded Pentucket Regional High School in a game on Wednesday, June 7. Before their loss, the team defeated 21st seeded Dighton-Rehoboth 9-5.

Again reaching the round of 16, the ninth seeded Old Rochester Regional High School boys tennis team lost 3-2 to eighth seeded Cape Cod Academy on Monday, June 5.

The Old Rochester Regional High School girls tennis team made it the furthest through the tournament bracket this season, reaching the round of 8 before losing 3-2 to Dover-Sherbourne on Saturday, June 10.

“Overall [it was] an amazing year for this team and I couldn’t be more proud of how far we came,” said Old Rochester Regional High School girls tennis coach Kyle Noseworthy, who added that despite an overall loss, the team saw singles wins from freshman Neva Matos and Senior Gabby Berg.
