MATTAPOISETT — The Buzzards Bay Coalition will host a public information meeting on Thursday April 25 at 6 p.m. in the Center School Cafeteria to explain pending work on its “The Bogs” property.

The 220 acre property originally belonged to Decas Cranberry Company. The owners of the company, working with a division of the US Department of Agriculture, promised to restore the land to wetlands when they retired it.

Decas Cranberry sold the property to the Buzzards Bay Coalition to complete that restoration promise. The conservation group will focus on restoring 57 acres of the property located on Acushnet Road to wetlands.

GZA Engineering will review data on the property and develop three conceptual plans for how the space would look after restoration and how to improve walking trails. The design work will be done this spring, and the project will move into more detailed engineering and permitting this summer.
