May 19, 2019

MARION — The Buzzards Bay Musicfest will bring five free concerts and a free dress rehearsal in a variety of styles to Tabor Academy in July.

The concerts will be held at the Fireman Performing Arts Center at 235 Front Street. Nationally- and internationally-prominent musicians will perform orchestral and chamber music, with
selections from Elgar, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Spohr, Dohnanyi, Ligeti, Debussy, Dvorak, Mozart, Grieg, and Brahms.

Orchestral performances will be held Wednesday, July 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m. Chamber music performances will be held Thursday, July 11 and Saturday, July 13 at 8 p.m. A jazz performance by the organization’s Swing Band Tribute to Duke Ellington will be held Friday, July 12 at 8 p.m. under the leadership of Tabor’s Phil Sanborn

An open rehearsal for all will be held Wednesday, July 10 at 2:30 p.m. The rehearsal is a unique occasion for young and old or aspiring musicians to
experience watching and listening as artists perform orchestral pieces in preparation for the concert series. Concert organizers request that children attend with an accompanying adult.

After the rehearsal, the audience will have the opportunity to chat with Guest Conductor, Antony Walker, Artistic Director Charles Stegeman and the musicians.
