Candida Rose brings Cape Verdean culture and history to Marion

MARION — Vocalist, entertainer, songwriter, and educator Candida Rose will celebrate Cape Verdean history and culture at the Marion Council on Aging on Monday, July 29.
Rose was born and raised in New Bedford, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music, specializing in African American, and World Music Performance with a minor in African American Studies.
Rose has developed a curriculum to teach Cape Verdean and Cape Verdean-American history through the perspective of music and culture. Her musical style combines influences of traditional Cape Verdean music with American jazz and R&B.
A catered lunch of Cape Verdean influenced cuisine will be served at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required for the lunch. Call 508-748-3570 to place a reservation.
