Candidates enter, solidify place in Mattapoisett town election race
MATTAPOISETT — Four new candidates have entered the Mattapoisett race for various positions, and four candidates have confirmed they will run by returning their papers.
Carly Lavin is currently running unopposed for the Mattapoisett School Committee. Robert Hohne will look to take the spot on the Old Rochester Regional School Committee that Stefan Gabriel is vacating. There is no one else running for the spot.
Raymond Andrews has announced his intention to run as Assessor again in another unopposed spot, and Susan Wilbur would like to run for one of two spots on the Community Preservation Committee. Both members of that committee will not run again, so she is running without an opponent.
The following candidates have returned their papers in late February or early March, confirming they will be in the race: John DeCosta for selectman (a three way race), Jennifer Russell for library trustee (unopposed), John Eklund for moderator (unopposed), and Daniel Chase for water and sewer commissioner (unopposed).
