Aug 16, 2021

The 2020 Census data is out, and it shows the Tri-Town population is growing.

Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester each saw an increase in population between the 2010 and 2020 censuses.

Rochester grew the most, shifting from 5,232 residents to 5,717. Mattapoisett was next, growing by 463 residents from 6,045 to 6,508. Marion grew the least, but crossed a threshold of 5,000 residents, going from 4,907 to 5,347 people.

Overall, the Tri-Town grew by 1,388 residents from 16,184 to 17,572 — or an 8.58% increase.

The rate of growth in all three towns was higher than the rate of growth in both the state and the country. Massachusetts grew at a rate of 7.37%, just over the 7.35% national rate. Marion grew 8.97%, Mattapoisett grew 7.66% and Rochester grew 9.27%.
