Children gather at Marion library to decorate bicycles for July 4 parade
The gazebo at the Elizabeth Taber Library was busy with activity Wednesday afternoon as children decorated their bicycles in red, white and blue. The event, led by Children’s Librarian Rosemary Grey, was part of the library’s summer program. The children will be riding their decorated wheels during the Independence Day parade in Marion.
“It’s very creative,” Grey said about the activity. “And it makes the children realize the library is a fun place to be so hopefully they have a positive association with it, and it becomes their home away from home.”
The decoration process involved balloons, streamers, tassels and American flags. Start time for the parade, coordinated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2425, is 9:00 a.m. at the ball field behind the town house.
Multiple events are happening at the Elizabeth Taber Library for children this summer including a magic show, pet parade, and reading programs with prizes and games.
