Civil War historian to embody hero at Marion lecture

On July 21 at 7 p.m., Gen. Joshua Chamberlain, portrayed by Rev. Bob Macfarlane (retired minister and Civil War historian), will lecture at the Marion Music Hall.
A respected and decorated Union officer, Chamberlain became famous for his leadership during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863, which earned him the Medal of Honor. He served in 20 battles, was cited for bravery four times and was wounded six times during the Civil War.
In addition, Chamberlain served as president of Bowdoin College and as the governor of Maine.
This event is part of the Sippican Historical Society Speakers’ Series and is free and open to the public.
