Coming soon to the Elizabeth Taber Library
The Elizabeth Taber Library is hosting a number of free events this summer.
Drop-in Activity Days are every Friday and Saturday during the summer program. Instructions and materials are available in the Children’s Room during regular library hours.
‘Camp out’ at the Elizabeth Taber Library
“Camp out” begins on Monday, June 25 and continues through Thursday, August 2 for children ages 2 to 12. Play the “Camp Out at the Library Reading Game” for fun, prizes and a good cause. Thanks to the generosity of Eastern Bank, Lockheed Martin-Sippican Inc. and Sippican Woman’s Club, the library is using the time spent reading to support the work of Heifer International.
Alex-the-Jester
The library will host Alex-the-Jester on Monday, June 25 at 2 p.m. at the Music Hall in Marion. This performance is sponsored in part by the Marion Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Lunch bunch I
Lunch Bunch I begins Tuesday, June 26 at 12:30 p.m. at the Elizabeth Taber Library. Children ages 7 to 10 can bring lunch and a drink (the library supplies dessert) and listen as to group reading. Contact the library to join this group.
Summer story time
Summer Story Time begins on Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. for ages 2 to 4 accompanied by enthusiastic adult companions). To sign-up, call the library.
Lunch bunch II
Lunch bunch II begins on Thursday, June 28 at 12:30 p.m. Children ages 5 to 7 can bring lunch and a drink (the library supplies dessert), and listen to a book being read aloud. Contact the library to join this group.
Junior volunteers
Students going into grades 5 through 9 can become junior library aides for the summer. Contact Mrs. Grey at the library or by email at rgrey@sailsinc.org before June 18 for more information and to fill out an application.
Make a teddy bear sleeping bag
The library will hold a “Teddy Bear Camp-out” on Wednesday, June 27 at 2 p.m. Children can bring a stuffed animal and the library staff will help you make their own sleeping bag for a campout at the library.
Make your own first-aid kit
Marion Town Nurse Kathy Downey, RN, MSN will show participants how to make their own first-aid kit on Wednesday, July 11 at 2p.m.
Magic show
Awesome Robb will perform magic, juggling and comedy on Monday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at the Music Hall.
Build a fairy house
Create a home for fairies with materials from nature using rocks, twigs, shells, flowers, feathers and build a fairy house on Wednesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at the Marion Natural History Museum.
Make a ‘sit-upon’ for a campfire
The library will host a “sit-upon” pillow workshop on Wednesday, July 25 at 2 p.m.
Make a beaded compass lanyard
The library will host a workshop for making a beaded compass lanyard on Wednesday, August 1 at 2 p.m.
Ice cream sundae social
The library will hold an ice cream sundae social on Thursday, August 2 at 2 p.m.
