Community comes out for Marion Town Party

As the summer winds down and kids prepare to go back to school, Marion held one last summer bash for residents.

The community was invited to the Marion Town Party for an evening of food, fun and friends on Saturday.

Chris Berg, chair of the Town Party Planning Committee, said the turnout appeared to be a little better than last summer.

"Tonight couldn't be better," he said.

Spring Street was closed from the Town House to Sippican School, and filled with people out to enjoy the party. In the middle of the street was a rock climbing wall with a line of kids waiting for a turn.

On the lawn beside the Town House were various inflatable games for kids to play, from t-ball to basketball, as well as a craft table.

String lights illuminated the lines of picnic tables where residents sat to enjoy the food.

"The turnout is great and the food is great," Berg said.

In addition to the large crowd already at the party, Berg said he anticipated it to grow as the evening wore on.

"The bonfire is a big draw," he said.

And with all the work that the committee puts into planning the party, Berg couldn't be happier with the way things turned out.

"Everything has been fantastic," he said.
