Cooking for two at Mattapoisett Library

Feb 8, 2017

Cookbook author and Mattapoisett resident Karen Covey had a full crowd on Tuesday night as she gave a Valentine's Day dinner demonstration.

Covey talked onlookers through a simple scallop recipe with cauliflower mash and capers. She also had a shrimp and herb dip to try and made lemon shortbread cookies for dessert.

Here are five of Covey's best kitchen tips:

1) If you cook with wine, always use one you like. If you start with undrinkable wine the dish will only get worse from there.

2) Pour yourself a glass of said wine while you cook.

3) You can never have enough butter.

4) Buy locally and always know where your food comes from.

5) Use ingredients that are in season.
